Have you ever made something that has happened to you mean something about you?

The event could be something that was completely out of your control, it may have been another person’s actions that you attached a definitive meaning about yourself.

We think that the act itself is what is causing us the pain but if you sit back and reflect on it and ask yourself is the act itself causing the pain or your thoughts about it?

I am going to tell you that it is not the event itself affecting how you are feeling but it does have everything to do with the meaning you are making it with your thoughts.

It’s not the change itself, it’s all about how you are thinking about it.

This can cause stress, sadness, anger & frustration.

You can’t blame the exterior event, it has everything to do with your internal process of the event.

What happened and your reality about what happened are not the same.

Neale Donald Walsch so eloquently describes it like this:

“Events are created by conditions and occurrences outside you.  Reality is created by conditions and occurrences inside you – in your mind.   It is here that events are turned into data, which are turned into emotions, which are turned in to experiences, which form your reality.”

If you want to change your reality you have to change what you are hearing yourself say to yourself…as a client of mine recently said, the most important thing she has realized is the importance of being aware of the talk, because unless that changes nothing changes.

Most times we are so caught up in our story that we have a hard time picking out that negative chatter.  That is where a coach plays a huge role in being a witness to your words and help point out what you may not have recognized yourself because you hear it so frequently.  So frequently that it eventually becomes a truth, a default way of thinking, an old pattern that has simply been ingrained.

I want to reassure you that a new path can be formed and there is hope to get out of old patterns and conditioning.
